MIP Politecnico di Milano becomes Polimi Graduate School of Management with Interbrand

New positioning, name and identity to lead the Graduate School of Business of the Politecnico towards new experiences that can further strengthen its link with the “ecosystem” of the University and with Milan, accelerating growth of the School in Italy and abroad.

Milano, May 5th 2022 – Starting from today MIP Politecnico di Milano, the Graduate School of Business of the Milanese University, changes its image and presents itself in the panorama of management education with a new name and a new brand: POLIMI Graduate School of Management.

Name and brand have been developed in partnership with the global brand consultancy Interbrand.

The rebranding – led by Interbrand – stems from the desire to express and accelerate a broad path of change, started in 2020, which has led the school to launch a new strategic plan and to redefine its purpose and values.

The Chairman Vittorio Chiesa and the Dean Federico Frattini explains “The path we have taken with Interbrand is not limited to a new logo and visual identity, but goes further, bringing with it a repositioning. POLIMI Graduate School of Management, in fact, wants to be a school rooted in Milan but present all over the world, recognised as one of the most innovative business schools and because of its commitment to building a more equitable, inclusive and mindful society.”

“Today, the world’s most influential brands have a responsibility to lead the economic, environmental, social and cultural debate, contributing to the development of the communities in which they operate. This is particularly true in the case of an institution like POLIMI Graduate School of Management”, says Manfredi Ricca, Interbrand’s Global Chief Strategy Officer. “The growth trajectory developed with the School focuses on the three aspects that make it unique – Make, Connect, and Ignite. A true manifesto for change which will inspire the POLIMI Graduate School of Management’s next strategic moves, aimed at consolidating its local impact and global growth.”

The first step of this transformation process was to analyze the point of view of those who are daily in contact with the Business School of the Politecnico di Milano, the students ̶ past, present and future ̶ as well as its corporate and institutional partners. Through a path of listening, analysis and co-creation, developed with the help of the school’s wide community, POLIMI Graduate School of Management and Interbrand identified the insights that made it possible to define the foundations of the repositioning and brand experience strategy.

From this a decision was taken: to change MIP, founded in 1979, into POLIMI Graduate School of Management. POLIMI, emphasizing the link with the ecosystem of the Politecnico and with the city of Milan; Graduate School of Management, to state that the school offers management training not only to those who work within companies, but also in other organisations such as public administration and cultural institutions.

The new logo represents POLIMI Graduate School of Management as a maker’s place, a space for experimentation and creation. The graphic characterization of the letter “O”, made perfectly circular, underlines the recognition of the School as a fundamental center for Milan and for the international community. The condensed typography, both expressive and functional, finds its roots in the world of publishing, paying homage to the countless contents that are developed and shared every day. The color palette enriches the identity, rich and in some ways unexpected for a business school, which expresses the multiple and ultimately human reality of the School.

To complete the new image of POLIMI Graduate School of Management, Interbrand has totally rethought the brand’s digital experience, defining and developing the new architecture of the site and improving the user experience through a design-system to ensure digital experiences.

“The POLIMI Graduate School of Management brand in its renewed essence will therefore be a fundamental accelerator for the School, expanding its possibilities, guiding the processes of innovation and development, consolidating relations with its target audience, and beyond ” says Davide Bignotti, Creative Director at Interbrand Milan.

Finally, to support this long-term growth path, POLIMI Graduate School of Management and Interbrand have defined a program of initiatives and experiences in line with the new ambition of the brand which is based on the three key concepts that distinguish the brand: Make, Connect and Ignite.

“We want to be a place of experimentation where innovative, practical and applicable solutions are born to solve the most pressing problems that our society is experiencing. A School capable of promoting a true sense of community that brings together students, teachers and alumni, but also all the school staff. An institution that is committed to inspiring and promoting a genuine commitment to making our planet and society better, more sustainable, more equitable, and more inclusive places” continues the Chairman Vittorio Chiesa and the Dean Federico Frattini.

In a context in which business schools are traditionally associated with career progress, maximising their students’ salaries, and employment data, POLIMI Graduate School of Management aims to distinguish itself more and more through the quality of its education – which is already widely attested – and for its ability to convey a new message that speaks of a passion for innovation, as well as collaboration, respect and attention to the world around us.
