Best China Brands 2021

August 24, 2021 – Interbrand, a leading global brand consultancy, has announced Best China Brands 2021. Tencent, Alibaba and China Construction Bank were ranked as the top 3 most valuable Chinese brands making financial and internet brands continued dominance of the ranking.

  • Overall, brand value increased by 47%
  • Brands that debuted in the ranking: Pinduoduo (#23), Bilibili (#35), Great Wall Motor (#39), ZTO (#40), VIP Shop (#41), ZTE (#50)
  • Top 3 brands: Tencent (#1), Alibaba (#2) and China Construction Bank (#3)
  • The brand with the highest growth rate in brand value: Alibaba, with +97% brand value growth
  • The brand that rose the most in the ranking: Meituan (#19), moving up 6 spots, with 87% brand value growth
  • Logistics, automobile and Internet were the fastest growing industries. Brand values increased by 142%, 98% and 92% respectively

Internet and financial brands continued to dominate the ranking. Tencent (RMB 746,799 million), Alibaba (RMB 632,440 million) and China Construction Bank (RMB 173,494 million) were the top three brands in the ranking. Their brand values increased by 89%, 97% and 18% respectively.

Pingan (RMB 161,157 million), ICBC (RMB 153,903 million) and Bank of China (RMB 111,122 million) ranked #4 to #6. China Mobile (RMB 95,013 million), China Life (RMB 88,005 million) and Agricultural Bank (RMB 83,539 million) ranked #7 to #9, respectively. Moutai (RMB 75,764 million) ranked #10.

The COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 had a direct impact on many industries, however, it also created growth opportunities for industries,like logistics, online service, etc. In this ranking, overall growth for the brand value of logistics was +142%. Thereinto, the brand value of SF Express increased by 63%, moving up 3 spots to #27; while ZTO was ranked #40 for the first time on the ranking.

In addition to the logistics industry, online consumption also gained a new round of growth. Meituan’s brand value grew by 87%, rising 6 spots to #19. Pinduoduo, a new brand, ranked #23 in its first appearance on the ranking. Additionally, the brand value of Tencent, Alibaba and JD also gained significant growth.
