Interbrand and Studio A Launch “La Stanza,” a unique professional exchange program aimed at fostering young creative talent
In collaboration with a renowned museum, which will be announced shortly, “La Stanza” grants young designers from across the globe the opportunity to live and work in Peru.
PERU (26 February 2015) – Interbrand, the world’s leading brand consultancy, in collaboration with Studio A, the leading Peru-based branding firm, today announced the launch of “La Stanza,” the first global residency program in Peru aimed at educating and inspiring young professional designers.
In collaboration with a renowned museum, which will be announced shortly, and under the curatorship of contemporary Peruvian artists Armando Andrade and Rodrigo Quijano, “La Stanza” seeks to promote the value of graphic design globally, offering young professional designers the opportunity to work on real-world client projects, while exchanging perspectives and local experiences and knowledge.
The “La Stanza” program is open to graphic designers from across the globe and from all areas of communication design: from graphic and digital designers to typographers, writers, illustrators, calligraphers and more. Accepted residents become part of the Interbrand and Studio A creative team and fully immersed in the culture, art, and lifestyle of Peru.
Within the course of each 2-to-3 week program, residents will be invited to create a unique graphic piece, influenced by Peru’s local idiosyncrasy and millenary culture. The developed art piece will become part of “La Stanza’s” private collection and exhibited at art hotspots – both nationally and internationally.
“ ‘La Stanza’ will undoubtedly set a landmark in the history of graphic design in Peru,” said Armando Andrade, artist and President of Studio A. “Similar to other experiences across the contemporary art world, I am convinced it will become an enriching space for many designers as they will have the opportunity to engage actively in the cultural landscape of the country. Thereby, allowing them to broaden and deepen their creative vision, both personally and professionally”.
“It is a unique and exceptional opportunity on a global scale,” added Eduardo Íñiguez, Manager of Interbrand Peru & Andean Region. “I’m thrilled that it will place Peruvian culture before the creative eyes and institutions of the world.”
Regarding the application process, admission and selection will be ongoing and all applications will be evaluated in depth by a team of branding and design experts. The program covers the flight and accommodation costs, as well as a trip to the Inca city of Cusco, famous for its extraordinary fortress of Machu Picchu.
