Interbrand wins Gold for Usiminas B2B Corporate Design Launch. Design work for Schindler also honored.
Munich, July 16th, 2009 – Interbrand's work was featured prominently among the winners of the 12th Corporate Design Award, garnering two awards for Usiminas and Schindler. The Usiminas launch was awarded the distinction of gold in the B2B category. The jury of design experts was also impressed by the tradition-rich Swiss brand Schindler. The new brand position and visual appearance received an award in the category B2B Companies – Relaunch.
Usiminas – great potential in every detail.
The Brazilian steel company Usiminas is one of the biggest and most modern steel producers in South America. In some areas, as many as 90% of the population is indirectly dependent on Usiminas. As a result, the company`s concern for economic and social responsibility is central to the new brand launch. For 4000 years, steel has played a central role in cultural and industrial developments. Usiminas steel is everywhere: in buildings, cars, watches, etc. We all have a piece of Usiminas and thus also carry a piece of responsibility. Usiminas captures this idea in the movement and the changing colors of the Usiminas "U".
Schindler – urban mobility.
The global market for elevators and escalators is extremely competitive. Producers of technically similar products strive to capture the market lead. Schindler's new brand identity, recognized as a benchmark in the industry, reflects the company’s business strategy with a striking collection of images. Pictures of the brand at work convey Schindler as the urban mobility provider: reliable, moving and trailblazing. Key to the brands's visual appearance is the use of white and red to brightly and colorfully support pictures of elevators and escalators featuring people on the move. A surprising touch is added to each picture creating a unique message.
The Corporate Design Award is an internationally recognized design award which includes eight categories to judge promising work from Germany, Austria and Switzerland. The communications association, Kommunikationverband, places great emphasis on actively developing new and future oriented communications concepts.
